#FirstTake #NBA Does the NBA have a 3-pointer problem? First Take debates #FLZVZN

Yes!  And I'm looking at my own Toronto Raptors for this flaw.  Ideally, everyone on a team being able to shoot the three-point shot is a bonus.  The problem is that it has taken away from so many other facets of a player's game that the team tends to live or die by it.

It's great when that shot is falling for everybody, but when it isn't, the Raptors are dead meat against teams in the upper echelons of conference standings.

I don't think they need to move the line anywhere, I just think they need to appoint moments of the game where there are more incentives to attempt the shot.  Hopefully, if there are any rule changes, they're more in line with improving the flow of the game rather than interrupting it.

#FirstTake #NBA Stephen A.: Kyrie Irving is an MVP candidate! | First Take #FLZVZN

I can't totally disagree with Stephen A. Smith on his opinion of Kyrie Irving being an MVP candidate.  Not at all.  I think Kyrie would probably be the MVP if it weren't for his hiatus, early on in the season when his team was still searching for an identity.

And that's what I can see being a problem for the Nets down the line.  There's no doubt that Kyrie Irving is going to be one of the greatest NBA players of all time, but his total commitment to basketball seems suspect and that'll most likely keep individual accolades just out of his reach for the rest of his career unless his attitude about the game changes.

Can adding more rules make the NBA more fun? Katie Nolan on the 3-point shooting trends | HQ #RPTZFLZ #FLZVZN

Personally, I would like to see the NBA turn the three-point shot into more of a power play of sorts.

I'd like to see them adjust the rules to where teams have to earn the three-point shot.  I don't know how but the game really needs to get back to a sense of fundamental play, where the ball gets moved around the floor which makes the game more exciting in the half-court.  Ball movement makes for a more active game, making the defense more active, leading to more fast breaks and fewer shots being chucked up by everybody in a uniform.

It would just be great to see centers being able to take and make a hook shot.  Twos and threes be able to make the mid-range and pull up jumper and ones be able to control the offense and get players open shots, that's all.

#FirstTake #NBA Which team is the Lakers' biggest threat in the West? First Take debates #RPTZFLZ #FLZVZN

Over the course of a seven games series, I think the only team that stands a chance against the Lakers would be the Clippers.  I think every other team after those two have needs to address before they can compete in a series.  If it were a one-and-done situation, the Lakers and Clippers would have to be concerned, but seven games require a lot of versatility and experience.
The good thing is, if you're that Jazz, Suns or Nuggets, it wouldn't require a big change to compete.

#FirstTake #NBA Which team is the Nets' biggest threat in the East? First Take debates #RPTZFLZ #FLZVZN

The 76ers are going to post the biggest challenge to the Nets, but that's not saying much.
I think the Nets are the only team in the east that has so far addressed their shortcomings.  They've become the most prepared team in the east to compete for a championship.  It's not too late for Philadelphia or Milwaukee to make a move, but they definitely have to do so in order to go seven games against the Nets.

#NBA #KJZ Blake Griffin makes the Nets overwhelming championship favorites - Jay Williams | KJZ #FLZVZN #RPTZFLZ

Does he really?  The Nets were already considered a pretty good bet to be the eastern conference champions so, they wouldn't need a whole lot more to be the odds on favourite to win it all, but to say Blake Griffin clinches it, might be a bit of a reach.
He simply hasn't shown the desire to win and it really shouldn't matter what team he's playing on and what position they're in.
James Harden showed up every night for a team he had no desire to play for moving forward, so when he joined the Brooklyn Nets, it was apparent that they were going to contend.  And even though he took a pay cut to join the Brooklyn Nets, you have to wonder if he's not joining the team just to be carried to a championship or if he genuinely wants to contribute.  He's said he wants to be a champion but does he wanna earn it?  If he shows up in the right mindset then a championship shouldn't be hard to happen for the Nets but if he doesn't, I don't think I'd pick them over a healthy Lakers team, that adds one more key player to the mix.
